Human Research Ethics

Human Research Ethics Office serves the Human Research Ethics Committee which is based at Fremantle Hospital serves the hospitals and health services across the SMAHS except for RPH which has its own committee.

The South Metropolitan Area Health Service  Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC) is constituted according to the requirements of the National Health and Medical Research Council of Australia (NHMRC).

The HREC reviews research projects involving human participants where these involve patients or staff of the South Metropolitan Area Health Service Human Research Ethics Committee (excluding Royal Perth Hospital, which has its own HREC).
