Infection control is committed to providing an infection control system that supports safe practice and a safe environment for its staff, patients and visitors.

This is achieved by:

  • The prevention and management of infectious diseases including, but not limited to:
    • Use of Standard and Additional precautions.
    • Notification of infectious diseases.
  • Employee health and infection control including, but not limited to:
    • Prevention and management of sharps injuries and body substance exposures.
    • Management of staff with communicable infections.
    • Contact tracing of staff exposed to communicable infections where appropriate.
  • Infection Control Procedures for the Environment including, but not limited to:

    • Facility design/renovation
    • Food hygiene
    • Environmental cleaning
    • Pest control
    • waste management
    • Control of waterborne infections
    • Antiseptics, disinfection and sterilisation (where applicable).
    • Product evaluation.
    • Management of invasive devices (where applicable).
