The role of Chaplaincy Services at Fremantle Hospital is to provide spiritual and pastoral care to patients, relatives and staff. The Resident Chaplain is Anglican and on call 24 hours. There is also a Catholic Priest on call. Representatives from other faiths and religions can be contacted by request. Enquires regarding the spiritual and pastoral needs of patients should be directed to the resident chaplain.

For most staff in a hospital, time is the thing in shortest supply. This is where the Chaplains seek to make a special contribution to the team effort of patient care and healing.

The training of Chaplains ensures that we listen, not just to what is said, but also to what is not said. Our belief is that the love and concern of God encompasses us all. We seek to express that love in our care for others, respecting each person’s individuality and beliefs, and in no way do we ever seek to impose our beliefs on others. Our primary purpose is to bring strength, comfort and hope to those in need.

The chapel is always open and available for private prayer, meditation, or just as a quiet, peaceful place to sit. All are welcome
