Fremantle Hospital and Health Service’s campuses include Kaleeya Hospital in East Fremantle and the Rottnest Island Nursing Post – a community facility located on WA’s major tourist island. All are part of the South Metropolitan Area Health Service for WA Health.
Fremantle Hospital is a 450-bed major acute-care teaching hospital with important tertiary links and a 24-hour emergency department.
It is the State referral hospital for diving and hyperbaric medicine, and has a cardiothoracic surgery centre, nuclear medicine department and a comprehensive range of acute and outreach care services. It also has a 66-bed mental health facility at the Alma Street Centre.
Kaleeya Hospital is a 66-bed facility with five operating theatres and an endoscopy unit. Kaleeya Hospital has a hydrotherapy pool, and an onsite physiotherapy department to enhance treatment for inpatients.
The hospital does not operate an emergency department, emergency presentations are directed to Alma St Campus.Kaleeya’s surgical services include obstetrics, gynaecology, urology, orthopaedics, gastroenterology, plastic surgery, ENT, general surgery and Ambulatory Surgical Initiative (ASI) cases.
